Former Shark rejoins pack

Posted on 21/02/2012

Former Shark, Kim Chatfield rejoins East Fremantle as Chairman of Selectors.

Chatfield started his playing days at Melville Junior Football Club under Coach Wilson Onions, before he graduated to the East Fremantle Colts, Reserves and eventually the league team where he featured in 13 League games.

A Henry Jeffery medal recipient, Chatfield was a squad member of the 1985 winning premiership side.

1986 saw him recruited to Woodville West Torrens in the SANFL under then coach Malcolm Blight.

A broken leg in the preseason competition of that year was the start of a frustrating run with injuries for Chatfield.

After many operations he eventually retired from State League to play country footy throughout Adelaide before returning home in 1999.

Appointed to the Coaching role of the Bullcreek Leeming colt’s side in 2006, Chatfield rejoined former Sharks team mate Roger Kerr as Chairman of Selectors in 1999 after Kerr’s appointment as Head Coach of the Claremont Tigers

Season 2012, presents Chatfield with the opportunity to reacquaint himself with some of the diehard Sharks he so fondly recalls.

We wish Kim all the best for his most recent appointment.
